| Gosikhurd Dam Opens 33 Gates |
Bhandara (Gosikhurd Flood Update): Due to heavy rainfall in the catchment area of the Gosikhurd Dam (Bhandara Gosikhurd Project), all 33 gates of the dam have been opened to maintain the water level. As per the information received from the project site at midnight on 20th August 2025, the water discharge from the dam has been increased to 3,771 cumecs (1,33,170 cusecs) because of excessive inflows caused by continuous rainfall. Further increase in discharge is possible depending on the inflows.
The discharge of water into the Wainganga River is still ongoing. Citizens are strictly advised not to enter the riverbed or attempt to cross it. Villagers residing near the riverbanks should remain cautious and alert. The district administration has urged all concerned authorities to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions at their respective levels.
