19-Year-Old Youth Swept Away in Khondi Stream |
Bhamragad (Gadchiroli District): Heavy rainfall continues to lash Bhamragad taluka for the past few days, causing rivers and streams to overflow dangerously. Normal life has been affected in several areas, with transportation and movement of villagers severely restricted. Amidst this situation, a tragic incident has shaken the local community.
On August 18, around 4:30 pm, a 19-year-old youth, Lalchand Kapilsay Lakda from Kodape village, attempted to cross the Khondi stream. Unfortunately, due to the strong water current caused by sudden flooding, he was swept away before anyone could rescue him. Some villagers present nearby tried to save him, but the powerful flow of water made their efforts futile.
As soon as the incident was reported, local administration and police rushed to the spot. Tehsildar Kishor Bagde informed that search teams have been deployed to trace the missing youth. However, the fast current and rising water levels have posed challenges for the rescue team. Despite the hurdles, authorities are determined to continue the search, with local villagers also lending their support.
